Crowns and Bridges
While I hope to help you prevent many dental concerns with your six-month cleanings and checkups, most patients will need a tooth restored at some point. I want to assure you that I utilize only the highest quality dental materials to ensure that the restorations I provide my patients with are durable and also aesthetically pleasing. I also work with only the top local dental laboratories that can match my quality standards with their craftsmanship.
Why Do You Need a Dental Crown?
If you’ve had dental fillings in the past to restore your teeth, you may wonder why I would recommend a dental crown instead? Crowns are ideal for teeth that have large, old restorations that can’t be repaired. They also help to strengthen teeth after root canal therapy. A crown can also restore a tooth that has been fractured or damaged by decay in a way that a filling can’t repair.
A crown is designed to adhere to your remaining tooth structure and cover your tooth like a cap. This allows it to encase the entire tooth, so you’ll enjoy full function when you are eating or chewing.
Because I use only ceramic porcelain for crowns in Frisco, TX, you can rest assured that your restoration will also seamlessly match your teeth and complement your smile.
When Do You Need a Dental Bridge?
A bridge is a solution for replacing one or multiple missing teeth that are adjacent. It relies on crowns as anchors for one or more prosthetic teeth in the middle. The crowns attach to healthy teeth, which support the bridge. Dental bridges provide the function and aesthetics that you lose when a tooth is compromised or failing.
There are benefits when choosing a dental bridge such as:
- A bridge is a fixed, long-term solution that can be a better choice for some patients than an appliance that is removable.
- A bridge prevents teeth from drifting into the open space
- A bridge is a good alternative when we can't utilize a dental implant.
What Is the Crown or Bridge Process?
The process for completing a crown or a bridge is very similar. When you come to BRUSH Modern Dentistry for your first visit, I will prepare your tooth for your restoration and send my exact specifications for your restoration directly to the dental lab with our 3Shape Trios digital intraoral scanner. Next, I will create a temporary version of it for you to wear while we wait for the dental lab to create your crown or bridge. This process typically takes about a week, and then you’ll return to our Frisco dental office to have your restoration permanently placed.
I know you will love the results we achieve when you choose BRUSH Modern Dentistry for your crown and bridge restorations. Contact my family dental office today to learn more.
